Research
Learning
Students worked with the Anne Frank Association Austria and two local artists, visiting Wörgl’s local monuments to understand their history and purpose. Research was deepened by exploring DERLA, Austria’s Digital Remembrance Landscape. This was followed by a tour of the Wörgl Museum where they learned about the former Nazi transit camp in the Wörgl district of Söcking.
Students learned about Wörgl’s direct connections to the Holocaust, the culture of remembrance, the use of memorials and their function, location, and relevance to young people today. Their focus became how art can be used to preserve the memory of victims of the Holocaust.

Enrichment
Sharing
Split into two cohorts, one group created a virtual tour with 360-degree photos, historical information and student reflections. The second cohort created a painting of their impressions for projection onto the monuments and inclusion in the virtual resource.
The virtual tour itself is a permanent, contemporary memorial of Wörgl’s Holocaust and World War II history. This was enhanced by an art installation where the painting was projected onto four monuments during an evening tour.
