Research

Learning

Pupils from Dornbirn-Markt and Dornbirn-Baumgarten schools cooperated with Dornbirn City Museum to explore the culture of remembrance in their hometown. Focusing on the Dornbirn memorial stone for the victims of National Socialism, students learned about the biographies of those who were persecuted by the Nazi regime.

Students learned about the history of National Socialism and the Holocaust using local biographies, highlighting the importance of active remembrance work. Students also gained awareness of the significant links between the history of National Socialism and their immediate living environment.

Enrichment

Sharing

With the goal of improving visibility of the memorial stone, pupils worked with experts from Dornbirn City Museum and the institute of Architecture and Spatial Development at the University of Liechtenstein to install white arrows in the center of Dornbirn, culminating in a larger-scale stone arrow, guiding the public to the memorial stone.

The installation successfully and emotively engaged the general public, encouraging curiosity and conversation about the town’s history and enabling students to share their experiences.
