Research

Learning
Students visited Camp des Milles, an internment camp during the war, now a museum. They delved deep into the history of the facility and key periods of its existence. Students learned of the stories of those interned in the camp through their letters and artworks, looking particularly at “The Réfectoire”.
This project opened up exploration of historical events and learning from the past, allowing students to better reflect on current world events. Students explored the long-term impact of the Holocaust and its connections with today.

Enrichment

Sharing
The students used their own findings as well as photos and short video clips from the Camp des Milles visit to storyboard and then create a project film. Students also made sketches and photomontages to keep a record of what they had experienced and its impact on them.
The project team has shared the film with film students at the school, and the film will premiere at the school’s open day in February 2025. This will be further supported by a student podcast reflecting on their experiences of Camp des Milles and its impact on their understanding of the Holocaust and its connections today.
